| The persona of Illusnist is my
third obsession, coming after the curvier gender, and my love of
words. But I also see magic and illusion repeated over and oover
again in my verse, so perhaps the twoo are somehow entwined. |

| Illusnist began his quest on 14
July, in the year 1996. Illusnist is the online identity of Roger Golden, but Illusnist is a fictional character. I do not wear a tophat filled with bunnies, own a bottomless bag of tricks and anything I might ever want, or use words such as M'lady, tis and twas. Likewise I rarely have a rose handy to give out to a lady, but if I did have them, I would. :) Illusnist was created for a few reasons, but primarily because a combination of bar, jester, and wizard sounded like something fun to be. As with the traveling bards of centuries gone by, Illusnist wanders throughout irc. He stops for a few days or a few months, and then wanders along. Usually, he returns to old haunts, but sometimes he simply moves on to other places. Illusnist was created with the express intent of creating an online persona which was widely known. A virtual showman, sometimes annoyingly honest and editorial, and sometimes a valiant magician, polite and attentive to the opposite sex, roaming through the wildrness of a virtual place called irc. Remember, this was the plan. I gave up the use of Phfred, which had been my personal fiction since the early 80's, and wrote some scripts that looked kind of like magic. Truth to be told, Phfred might as well be the name attached Illusnist, as much of the former's personality can be found in the latter. Magic and roses are the gimick of the wandering bard. Illusnist is an entertainment. I laugh myself silly playing the character in irc, and have been told many times that I do the same for others.
